Startup Options Dialog

Startup Options dialog that is displayed upon Parallels Workstation startup assists in easily opening Virtual Machine or proceeding to creation of a new one. If this is the first time you launch Parallels Workstation this dialog is opened automatically.

Startup Options

To open one of the recently used Virtual Machines, select Open one of recently used virtual machines option, then select one of the Virtual Machines in the window and click OK. List of the recently used Virtual Machines is empty when you launch Parallels Workstation for the first time.

To open an existing Virtual Machine that is not in the recently used list, select Open existing virtual machine option, then click Browse button and locate desired configuration file.

To create new Virtual Machine, select Create new virtual machine option and click OK. New Virtual Machine wizard will be opened.

If you close the window by clicking Cancel button, blank Virtual Machine will be opened.

The Startup Options dialog is displayed when you launch Parallels Workstation for the first time. Other cases of appearing the dialog depend on settings on the Common tab of Preferences window. By default both Load last VM and Show dialog if no last VM is loaded options on this tab are selected and the dialog is displayed when Parallels Workstation can not open the last used VM.

You may configure Parallels Workstation so that Startup Options dialog is opened on each startup. If Show dialog if no last VM is loaded is selected while Load last VM is not selected, the Startup Options dialog is always displayed when you launch the Parallels Workstation.

Show this dialog if no last VM is loaded option in this dialog is an analog of the Show dialog if no last VM is loaded option on the Common tab of Preferences window. Whenever you check/uncheck one of them, another is checked/unchecked automatically.
