"Screen 4 -- Fluid checks."

"Fluid level checks aren't a bad idea on any car. Noticing a low fluid level"
"can help you avert potential disastrous breakdowns before they happen. While"
"a good idea, most checks (except washer fluid) aren't absolutely necessary on"
"new cars. These checks are especially helpful if your car is a 'leaker,'"
"'burner,' or just a general 'heap.'"

"13. Washer fluid level check. Make sure this is full -- especially for winter."
"Try some premium fluid during winter months -- the cheap blue fluid, while"
"okay in summer, isn't always real effective."

"14. Check power steering fluid level. Does your steering whine when being "
"turned? You're probably dangerously low on fluid. Overheating the power "
"steering pump due to lack of fluid is a good way to say bye bye to $400 or"
"more. Keep this full. "

"15. Check oil level. Very important if your car leaks or burns oil. A lack"
"of oil can destroy your engine in seconds. Always stop immediately if the"
"oil light, or low oil pressure indicator, comes on in your vehicle."

"16. Check antifreeze/coolant level. Usually you check this through the"
"plastic overflow tank -- make sure it is full to the 'full cold' point."
"It is especially important to check this before long, hot summer trips."

"17. Check transmission/differential fluid level. Always check the transmission"
"fluid level when the car is hot and idling in Park. (Automatic transmission). "

"Manual transmissions and differentials can be checked when the car is cold."
"Usually there is a plug or screw on the side of the trans/differential casing, and"
"the fluid should be up to the point of this plug... a little should run out"
"when you unscrew the level plug. Usually you put ordinary motor oil in these,"
"but check your owner's manual to find out for sure."

"18. Check brake/clutch fluid level. Check the level of fluid in the brake"
"booster. It should always be kept full (there should be a fill line). Some"
"(most) manual transmission vehicles also have a fluid tank for the clutch"
"near the brake cylinder. Check this also -- consult your owner's manual for"
"fluid specifications."
