Recommendations:
----------------
It is recommended to use this application on Windows XP/2000/97/ME.

Following are the common points/behavior used within the application on various actions or screens:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Any label shown in Dark Red color is mandatory.
2. Any label shown in Blue color is a link which describes field type (mandatory, optional, read only etc.) along
with some rules or properties or description for that particular field. Clicking on the label will open a pop-up
box with details and a close (X) button. This pop-up box will be closed automatically after a pre-defined time
or click 'X' button to close explicitly.
3. Any label shown in black color is optional and can be left blank.
4. "Save To File" button is shown in few screens. Click this will save the data of table in a text file. Data will be
saved in same order as it is shown in the table on the screen. Data will be formatted as the column type. The width
of the each column is calculated dynamically to fit all values in that column.
5. "Status" field in most of the screens has following options "Active", "In Active". Making a account/record in-active
will disable it from being shown in LOVs (Drop Downs) and tables. It can be made Active again when ever needed.
6. By default double clicking on any record in a table will open that record in update mode.
7. All in-active rows shown in a table are shown with different foreground and background color so that they can easily
identified. In-active rows are not considered in calculation of totals in respective screens (unless otherwise option
is selected). The color of in-active row can be changed by going Tools -> Options... -> Application tab.
8. User can use arrow keys to navigate within a table. Down arrow and Up arrow will be treated as single mouse click on
a row in table. While Enter key will be treated as double click on a row in table. Tab will bring focus to the next
eligible component on the screen just after table and shift + Tab will take focus to previous eligible component
   just before the table.
9. If there is any editable cell present in a table. The color of that cell will be dark orange.
10. In table green foreground color symbolizes profit, red color symbolizes loss and purple color symbolizes
    interest/dividends.
11. Any important row or column in a table or any important field on the screen will be shown with fuchsia color as
background. Same color is also used to show the current fields, rows or columns (like current stock price,
    reminders due today).
12. Bringing mouse on any image button will show description of the button.
13. "Show Active Records Only" option shown just above table in most of the screens is selected or un-selected based on
the properties set in the Options screen (Application tab).
14. To view or update any secure/confidential info user needs to login as admin user first. Once you are logged in as
admin user it remain logged-in till you close the application, click on "Log Out" button or choose "Admin Log out"
    menu option of Main screen.
15. To Export or Import data from application you always need to provide admin user id and password, even though you
are already logged-in as a admin user. This is for security purpose so that no one else can do export or import
of your personal data even if you forgot to logout after login as admin user.
16. On Main screen following 3 reminders are shown in 3 different tables. By default all reminders due in current month
are shown in respective table. Anything that is due for today will be highlighted with fuchsia color and will be
shown at top of the table. You can always browse back and forth in months. You can resize, reset, show or hide each
reminder table on main screen by right clicking on the reminder title. Reminder title for current month is shown
with blue color while any other month will shown with black color. You can always jump to current month from any
month by clicking "Go to Current Month" option of right click menu.
17. All alert, error or confirmation messages shown in the application are model in the nature. Which means you will be
not able to do anything else in the application until you take some action on the shown message (like click OK or
    Cancel button).
18. There are also few model child windows which are opened when you click on details button on some of the screens.
When such model child windows are opened you will be not able to do anything else on any other screen until you
close the model child window. So some time if you see you are not able to do anything on any opened screen, either
there is a alert message is shown on some screen or a model child window is opened some where in the application.
19. Shortcuts commands are defined for frequently used screens like "Ctrl+X" for closing the application, "Ctrl+P" for
password manager screen. All shortcut commands are defined on the menu toolbar (next to the screen name) and all
these commands can be executed only if main screen is the currently activated window.
20. In most of transaction details screens "Create/Update Template", "Open Template For Single Use" and "Open Template
For Bulk Load" image buttons are shown. These buttons can be used to create or update transaction template, use any
existing template to add or update a transaction or create multiple transactions for defined frequency (once, daily,
weekly, monthly or yearly) between 2 specified dates. Templates are specific to the account type and can used for
all accounts of that account type.
21. GUI for almost each table shown on any screen can be customized to suit your requirements and taste. Right click
inside the table boundary, you will see a pop-up menu with following options
        a. Reset Table Layout: This is to reset the current table layout to the last saved table layout. If no table layout
is saved the default table layout will be shown.
        b. Default Table Layout: This will reset the current layout to the system default table layout.
        c. Save Current Table Layout: This will save the current shown table layout in database to be used for next time onwards.
        d. Show/Hide Columns: This can be used to show or hide columns in the table.
You can change the width of each column shown in the table or reorder the sequence of the columns and save it so that
next time onwards this new layout will be used instead of default table layout.

2. Miscellaneous Account Summary Report: This report can be used to combine one or more following account categories.
Here records are added at category level. All accounts under the added category are considered while executing
   report.
     a. Bank Account
     b. Stock Account
     c. Loan/Policy Account
Category accounts can be combined to get the desired report by adding them to the report or subtracting them from
   the report.
i.e. Total Cash = Bank Account 1 (All checking accounts) + Bank Account 2 (All savings accounts)+ Stock Account 1
Total Money in Stocks = Stock Account 1 + Stock Account 2
Total Amount Paid in Loan/Policies = Loan Account 1 + Policy Account 2

the mandatory fields and then you need to move one or more category accounts from the "Account From" table to the
"Account To" table. Define "Action Type" (as Add or Subtract) for all the category accounts included in "Account To"
table. For each account added in "Account To" table you also need to define the way transaction data is included in
the report execution. This varies based on the type of the category account you are adding. Here is the list of
options you can use for each category account type.
     a. Bank Account: Current Amount, Maturity Amount, Interest Amount
     b. Stock Account: Earnings, Current Value, Dividends, Fees

records in calculation by selection "Yes" or "No" option under "Include InActive" column of of the "Account To"
table. After defining report execution criteria save the report. To execute the report navigate to Reports ->

backup file or to import it back into the newer version of application. To use export utility go to File -> Export...
menu option. Select the appropriate tab, select relevant options and click "Export" button. It will ask for admin
user id and password (for security purpose). Provide it and it will create a ".sql" file at selected location. It is
not advisable to use system tables while doing import for upgrading to the new version as in new version there might
be some additional system data changes which were not there in current version of application. In most cases Export
Data tab should be used to export user data with option "Add Truncate Table Statements?" selected.

2. Import: This is used to import user data into the database from a flat file (.sql), which was exported by the
application. To use import utility go to File -> Import... menu option. "Database" field shows the current database
type, provide location and name for file which you want to import, select relevant options and click "Import" button.
It will ask for admin user id and password, provide it and it will start executing sql statements from the imported
file in to current database. To see the rules and format of .sql file just click on "Import File" label. You can
also see logs for each sql statement executed in logs text area. From FAssistant version 4.00 onwards if you are
trying to import an old version file, application will give you option of using "Smart Import" functionality, using
this option any required database changes (because of version change) will be handled by the application
automatically. This does not guarantee to perform all required changes in the database, it depends the version of
the file you are trying to import.

go to Tools -> Change Password menu option. Select the user id from the drop down you want to change, provide
existing password, and new password to change the password.
There are 2 types of users

Options menu option. After doing necessary changes in this click on "Save" button to save changes. You can do
   following things in options screen.

or save a file using "Save To File" functionality. Use option "Use native look and feel for windows?" to change
the look and feel of the screens. Rest options are used to see the error details if there is some error
        occurred during processing your request/action.
     b. Database Tab: Here you can change the database type, database file name, user id and password for database
connection and database driver. It is recommended not to change things in this tab and leave it to the default
        values set during installation.
     c. Security Tab: Here you can select option "Prompt for authentication on startup?" so that when you start the
application you need to provide application user id and password, so no one else can open the application. Use
option "Prompt for authentication for critical record delete?", so that application will need admin access if
you want to delete the categories of most of the account types. In this screen you can also define the minimum
password length you want to keep for both application and admin passwords you choose using Change Password
        functionality.

all the screens. You can choose option "Show only active records in Table?" to show or not show in-active
records in table by default when screens are opened. Use option "Show Reminder Messages on Main Screen?" to
show or not show three reminders tables on main screen. Use option "Save Main Screen Layout on Exit?" to save
