What's New in Version 2.43-2.44?
Bug Fix for Pet Insurance Policies. If a pet insurance policy was deleted, it was possible in some circumstances to create an empty insurance policy which then caused subsequent access to any pet policy to index the wrong policy and the program could crash.

Addition to Test Printing:
For those test results with several parts, the name of the part is now added to the result value so that it will print out in medical history reports. For example, if the test is a Blood Count (CBC), the data entry form's 5 result boxes will show:
  %(HCT), gm/dl(HGB), mil/cu mm(RBC), /cu mm(WBC), /cu mm(Platelets)
You will type in a value at the front of each of the labels for which you have results, and store. The medical history report will then print the full text so that it is clear what the entered values refer to. If you have entered these values in prior versions of Health-Minder and wish to use this change, you will need to replace the prior test item with a new one (delete old, add new) and re-enter the values for this change to take place. Test results with only one value are unambiguous and do not need to be re-entered.

What's New in Version 2.42?
The display of prescriptions, hospitalizations, and home or hospice care will now show the pharmacy, hospital, or agency of care rather than the doctor who prescribed the care. The medical history will show both the doctor and the provider of care. This was inconsistent in prior versions, with sometimes the doctor's name displayed, and for other items, the provider being displayed.

Bug fix: under certain circumstances, a cost item would be incompletely deleted. This has been corrected. If you use the Cost/Claim feature of Health-Minder, please download this new version.

What's New in Version 2.41?
It is now possible to view AND print reports for individual medical expenses. Prior to this version, you could use DIARY|Costs to view expenses for the family or for a selected individual, but printed reports were by family only. Now, you may also print just an individual's expenses, whether person or pet. The items are grouped by expense type, and then by date so that you can see the details of expense type subtotals more easily.

What's New in Version 2.40?
When making payments for a medical event, you may now enter the date of payment up to 14 days in the future from the current day. Thus if the date of care is June 10, and you are entering payments on June 18, you may date the check with any date between June 10 and June 18+14 days, or July 2. The reason the date has any limits at all is to try to catch date entry errors. But this new flexibility will make it easier to post-date checks.

What's New in Version 2.39?
This version is an important revision to Version 2.38 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIX:
The notepad problem partially resolved in version 2.36 needed more work. If you make used of the NotePad feature, it is very worth your while to download and install this new version.
The express update button for Office Visits in the Emergency Care window has been enabled.

What's New in Version 2.38?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.37 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIX:
Date checking for birthdates of parents was rejecting birthdates before 1900.

What's New in Version 2.37?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.36 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIX:
Costs window for Pet Vaccines did not close when STORE button was pressed. This has been fixed.

What's New in Version 2.36?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.35 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIX:
Notepad text was lost if you edited a previously entered health care event and also edited the Cost/Claim information. This has been fixed.

What's New in Version 2.35?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.34 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIXES:
(1) When you have a mammogram, you may enter the test name as "mammogram" or "mammography" and Health-Minder will print the most recent date of this type of test. Health-Minder was not showing the most recent mammogram in the Women's Health window or report if you had named the test "mammography".
(2) The report from the Women's Health window was not printing all the information it is supposed to print. This has been fixed.
(3) Medications reports and Medical History reports, when printing medications, will also print reactions to them. This feature had worked in prior versions but had been "broken". It is now fixed again.
(5) Reports showing Prescriptions will show whether or not the prescription may be filled with the generic form of the medication.
CLARIFICATION:
(1) The test name "breast exam" has been added to the TEST category "MISCELLANEOUS". In order for the Women's Health report to show the most recent breast examination given by your doctor, please enter the test name as "breast exam". This is a physical examination, not the mammogram.
NEW FEATURE:
(1) You can now mark selected medications as "inactive" in the Medications History Window. Inactive medications may still be edited, but they will not appear when you enter NEW prescriptions nor when you print reports. This feature has been added for use by people who have taken a lot of different medications in the past, but wish to include only their current medications in reports they take to their health care providers. Exercise caution in using this feature since it may be important for your doctor to know whether you have ever taken a certain medication. If you have any doubt about this, do not check the "Mark As Inactive" box for a medication. You may also uncheck this box to restore a medication to the active state.

What's New in Version 2.34?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.33 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIXES:
(1) Fixed bug in Symptoms window. If date or health care provider was missing, program crashed instead of requesting the missing data.

What's New in Version 2.33?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.32 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIXES:
(1)Test names containing colons, such as "Mineral:calcium", were incorrectly displayed in the list of tests, putting text after the colon into the health care provider column. This did not affect the storage of the data, just its display.
(2) Rounding error in converting child's weight from pounds to kilograms. This could slightly affect the percentage value when calculating the comparison between the weight and that for other children of same age and gender.

What's New in Version 2.32?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.31 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIXES:
Chiropractors and Osteopaths did not appear in list of health care providers
for office visits and checkups. This problem has been fixed.

What's New in Version 2.31?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.3 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIXES:
(1) Pressing the IN PLAN option on the Insurance Claim Status window resulted in a flashing display of data. And on exit from the program, Health-Minder gave an error message. These problems have been fixed.
(2) Diary|Cost reports were giving family summary details, but not individual data. The Rich Text Format version was incomplete. Fixed.

What's New in Version 2.3?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.2 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
BUG FIXES:
(1) Entering Costs/Claims for Vaccinations used to cause program crash. This has been fixed.
(2) Deleting a vaccination (for those that came built into the Health-Minder database) used to give error that you couldn't delete it. It is now possible to delete all cost/claim information for that vaccine, and to reset its data values to empty. Note that Health-Minder allows you to completely delete a vaccine name and data you have created yourself.
(3) Disappearing vaccination names -- Deleting a vaccine from adult vaccines deleted names of child vaccines, and vice-versa. This has been fixed.

NEW FEATURES:
(4) Head Circumference Data may now be entered and stored between 36 months and 60 months. Because the National Center of Health Statistics does not provide comparison data for these older months, Health-Minder does not either. Health-Minder will only provide a graphical display for the first 24 months when this data is most needed.
(5) You may now edit the Health Care Providers list even if you have not yet selected a person or pet from Family Member List.
(6) Additional safety checking is now being done for the Health-Minder database. This will be invisible to users of the software, but should prevent errors or program crashes pertaining to deleted items.

What's New in Version 2.2?
BUG FIXES:
(1) Entering a new TEST from a Checkup window, instead of the TEST window, made changing the values of the test impossible. This has been fixed.
(2) Deleting a Checkup sometimes caused a program crash. This has been fixed.
(3) For Pet Checkups, adding a new vet in the Checkup window worked fine. But if you then pressed the TESTS button from the Pet Checkup window, and added a new test, the newly entered vet name did not appear. This has been fixed.
(4) More checking on values entered in the Measurement Diary to be sure users don't enter fractions (such as 1/2) instead of decimal values (such as .5).

NEW FEATURES:
In the TESTS window, you may now also sort the list of tests by TEST NAME, and print a report from the TESTS window in the same order. This is to facilitate viewing the results of the same test which has been repeated over time. When sorting by test name, tests of the same name will then be sorted with the most recent date first.
The display now also shows the name of the health care provider.

What's New in Version 2.1?
This version is a minor revision to Version 2 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.

BUG FIXES:
(1) Deleting a reminder caused a program crash.
(2) When printing reports, notes you have entered on the Notepad for an office vist for an illness or injury are now included in the report printed from the Office Visit for Illness and Injury window, but not in the medical history SUMMARY report (for reasons of conciseness). The same is true for reports about Hospital care, Tests, and Treatments.

What's New in Version 2.0?
Version 2.0 is a major revision and ALL users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.

BUG FIXES:
(1) Program crashed if you entered zero for the amount in a Rejected item when entering Cost/Claim information for a health care event. Now it longer crashes. However, the idea here is to enter the amount rejected, not zero. For example, if you submit a claim for 100 dollars and receive a refund of 20 dollars, the rejected amount would be 80 dollars.

(2) Family member name list is now sorted into alphabetical order. If you have only a few family members, this hardly matters. But if you have many names, enter them as "Last name, First name" to see the names sorted by Last name.

(3) Bug in redisplaying a list of items following the deleting of the last item
on a list has been fixed. The redisplay problem affected list of Reminders, Medications, Providers, and Diagnoses.

(4) Improved formatting of Medical History Summary Report. Suggestions for this are always welcome.

NEW FEATURES:
All new child growth statistics released by National Center for Health Statistics in June 2000. The Growth and Development Window (LIFESTYLE|Growth and Development|Infant or Child/Teen) now enables you to store Head Circumference measurements
for children upto age 5. Furthermore, you can calculate the percentiles for Height for Age, Weight for Age, Weight for Height, BMI, and Head Circumference and compare the child's measurements with other US children of same age and gender. Use the HELP button for a full explanation.

The Head Circumference graph, accessible from the Growth and Development Window, now plots the data you have entered for a child's head circumference. Data is plotted in centimeters, between birth and 24 months, although you may enter head circumference data upto the age of 5 (60 months) and calculate its percentile ranking.

The Growth Velocity Window now shows the change in growth in either metric or non-metric values. If you access this window from the Growth and Development Window, you may also print a Report of the change in height and weight for each six month interval for the child whose data you have entered. Compare these changes in growth to the values in the appropriate table for the child's gender and age in months.

New Window: BMI for Child. Type in age, height, gender, and weight and calculate the Body Mass Index for a child between the ages of 2 to 20 years. Learn how to interpret the BMI from its Percentile value, comparing a child's BMI with others of same age and gender.

What's New in Version 1.22?
BUG FIXES:
(1) Rich Text Format for reports from Cost Summary Window has been improved so that some lines which had been truncated are now printed in full.
(2) Tests portion of Medical History Summary report now prints results of tests given without a diagnosis. Previously, the results of the tests were printed only under the diagnosis for which the test was given. Now the results are printed even if there is no diagnosis given as the reason for the tests.
(3) Growth and Development Window was a tad too short for comfortable data entry. This has been enlarged.
(4) Program crashed if you entered a poorly formatted date in the payments portion of the Cost Dialog Window. The error message was given, but then the program failed. This has been repaired.
(5) Program crashed when Update Pets Checkup button was pushed from Pet Medical History window. Fixed.

What's New in Version 1.21?
Bug fix for LIFESTYLE|Summary|Diet window where if the percentages of
carbohydrates, protein, and fat did not add up to 100% you would see an error
message, but then Health-Minder would fail. Health-Minder will now report the
error to you but not crash. You will now be able to adjust the percentages and
try again.

What's New in Version 1.2?

New Features:
Some windows now have an addition option to sort the list by provider name or by date. The windows with this added feature are all found under the Medical Care Menu, and include:

Emergency, Hospice and Home Health Care, Hospital, Tests, Treatments, and under the Medical Care|Office Visits menu these: Checkups, Dental, Illness or Injury.

In addition, a few of these windows have also been given a REPORT button so that you may print a report ordered by date or by provider, and you may also select just one provider to print. So, if you want to print out all Office Visits to a specific provider, you can.

To help you answer the question: What do I owe Dr. So-and-So:
The MEDICAL COSTS SUMMARY list has a new column: Balance.
The amount shown under "Balance" is the amount remaining UNPAID for each health care event. It is computed as the FEE minus what you have paid and minus any amount paid by your insurance to the provider. This amount has always been available when you double-click on the event to bring up the record of payments, refunds, and balance for that event. But the new column makes it easier to see.

When you print a report from this window, you may now select a specific provider. The report will show the FEE for each medical care event, any payments or refunds credited to that event. The total for each type of care, say Checkups, for example, continues to be your out of pocket expenses for all Checkups, not just the ones to that provider. Your out of pocket expenses are computed by the amounts you have paid minus any refunds to you. The report does not show the balance for each care event, but that may be seen in the new column in the list.

New Tables and Graphs:
In the LIFESTYLE|Growth and Development Window, you will find two new buttons.
One is "Infant Head Circumference" which is used to display a graph of measurements in centimeters of infant head circumferences. The HELP button will tell you how to take this measurement and what it means. Be sure to press the HELP button on the Growth and Development Window to read the new section "Reliability of Growth Charts". This is important information about the coming revision of growth chart data from the National Center for Health Statistics and why the revisions are needed. The discussion also includes an explanation of the limitations of graphs on your computer screen.

See also the new HELP information on Printing Graphs.

The second new button on the Growth and Development Window is the Growth Velocity button. Pressing this button will give you a screen where you may select which age group you wish to see. The term "growth velocity" refers to the rate of change in weight and length/height over a given time period. In essence, it helps parents find out if their child is growing at a normal rate. The data again comes from the National Center for Health Statistics and is subject to the same limitations as all the growth chart data. Press the HELP button to learn more. The growth velocity tables have been prepared for girls and boys, from birth to 24 months, from age 2 to 12, and from 12 to 18. You may also access these tables from NUTRITION|Weight|Child,Growth Velocity menu item.

New commands:
FILE|Backup to copy the Health-Minder database files to the directory c:\hminder\backup (if you have installed Health-Minder on c:\hminder). See the HELP on BACKUP for more details.

PRINT DATA TO FILE AND EXIT button is now found on the startup screen after your sixty day trial has ended. If you decide not to register Health-Minder, you may print all the data you have entered into the database to a text file. You can still change your mind, though, and register at any time. See the topic "Registration" in the HELP file.

Bug Fixes:
A few people had problems with printing a report to a printer. When trying to print, a system error message appeared. That problem has been resolved. For Windows 95/98/NT, Health-Minder installation will now include the printing utility TxtPrint which will print and produce reports in a nice format. To learn more, use the HELP for Reports. The options for TxtPrint formats may be changed from the menu item SETUP|Options or by running the TxtPrint program itself. Users of Windows 3.1 did not experience this problem, so no change was required.

If you continue to have a problem, please e-mail me the error message you see plus the type of printer you are using. NOTE: the work around is to print to a file, either plain text or in Rich Text Format, and then to open the file with your favorite word processor and print from there.

To edit the information about a health care provider, you needed to have first selected a family member's name. This is no longer required.

If you entered an Illness as recurring, reports sometimes failed to print it correctly. That has been corrected.

If you selected Printer or Screen on a report specification dialog, then un-marked either of these, the turn-off wasn't remembered and you got the SCREEN or PRINTER anyway. That has been fixed.
